Is there something about notes instead of lyrics that touches you in a “deeper” way?

Some ppl say that the joy you get from musical notes/harmony is well beyond the joy you get from lyrics and listening to music like hip hop centered lyrics. Is “pure” music better then music with lyrics because you feel it on a different level? (like when ppl cry from listening to classical music…)

Yes. An arrangement can alter your mood and make you “feel” more than just the lyrics.

In the blues they have a “blue note” which is a flat or a sharp that sounds out of place. It adds this sadness or forlorness to a tune.

Additionally, when you watch horror movies, notice the songs don’t have lyrics but they sure can evoke feelings of angst, dread, or “something bad is gonna happen”. For example, the Jaws music duh nuh, nuh nuh. It’s chilling.
