With today’s technology, many brands of discount cologne smell better than ever. Consider Stetson and Old Spice, two brands of discount cologne that cost less than $20. With these fragrances, men smell more masculine and sexy… even if they were sweating.
So, what are the ingredients that make discount cologne so enticing? And are they any less worthy than the ingredients used in designer fragrances? Well, in actuality, discount cologne and designer colognes use the same type of ingredients. The only difference is the amount that is used.
Also, both designer cologne and discount colognes are designed to carry a scent on three levels. The first level contains the “top notes.” Top notes contain various spices and mints, which are designed to give off a powerful ‘first impression.’
The next level contains the “heart notes.” Heart notes take over when the ingredients within the top notes start wearing off. As a result, they contain even stronger scents from citrus fruits and more aromatic spices.
The final level contains the “base notes.” Consisting of leathers, the base notes give the cologne a sweet-like aroma. They also help lengthen the amount of time the ingredients in the other layers last.
Now, when it comes to overall design, remember, discount cologne and designer cologne both use the same approach. However, within each of these levels, discount cologne would ‘stretch’ out the ingredients with butane and other chemicals. As a result, the life of the fragrance becomes somewhat limited… at least in comparison to designer fragrances.
Does that mean you should avoid discount cologne? Of course not. In fact, some of the world’s most recognizable colognes come from discount brands. And, surprisingly enough, some of these brands still last a very long time.
Ultimately, you’re going to have to be the judge when it comes to buying discount cologne. Try a few brands and see which one lasts the longest. Even among the cheaper brands, you should be able to find something that suites your preferences.
