Used to be that all a man needed was a good shave, an after shave or a bit of Old Spice, and he was considered decently dressed. Men were manly, men were rugged, and the only time a man would wear cologne was on a date. But buy designer quality cheap cologne? What’s that?
Times have changed; Madison Avenue has targeted men for fragrance ads since the turn of the century, and it’s starting to pay off. It’s hard to reconcile buying name brand cologne when it costs $70 or more per bottle – you’d pay that much for a good Scotch. And then again printer ink toner is a whole lot more expensive these days than perfume or a good scotch. But that’s another story. Anyway, before you succumb to the temptation to try eau d’Glenlivet or Bacardi Aftershave, let’s explore a few alternatives.
Because of the extensive marketing aimed at you (or, if you’re a woman reading this, aimed at inciting neuroses in your male friends and relatives), there’s been an incredible amount of price competition in the discount perfume and cologne market. Yes, designer cologne, the high end stronger scent stuff costs a pretty penny…but last year’s hot fragrances still smell nice, and become today’s inexpensive cologne. And these designer turn discount cologne can cost considerably less if you buy them online. And unlike, say, last year’s hot new jacket, nobody will notice it’s discount cologne other than that you don’t smell like you just left the gym.
Now, don’t get me wrong – the way Madison Avenue pitches at everything under the sun in terms of sales and marketing is appalling. And when it comes to mens colognes they are definitely aiming right at your insecurities. But just because the social expectations for you have gone up doesn’t’ mean you have to pay through the nose. You have choices. You can buy cheap cologne tester for sale, discontinued cologne, wholesale cologne, and other types of discount cologne for men. You just have to know where to look for the best discount prices.
Beware of generic cheap scents as they tend to contain more alcohol and do not linger on the skin long. try to stick with cheap scents or discounted fragrances from name brands with a reputation to protect.
First, be sure to swing by a store, and get a sample whiff of anything you like from the best cologne reviews you read, before you buy it discounted online. There’s nothing quite like discovering you can’t stand the cheap cologne for men you just put on to impress your date. Third, remember than in the world of cheap perfume and cologne, cheap is a relative term. Even with online discounting, and an all out price war, to buy cheap designer cologne is still going to set you back thirty or forty bucks a bottle. Just remember – the amount of cologne you use for a date will likely cost less than the appetizers at the dinner, and will probably improve your chances more than buying the brie and chambois platter.
Lastly – and this is part of the “go to a store and sniff it” test, even if it is popular names like discount christian dior cologne, daytona 500 cologne, or eau sauvage cologne.
